Description

Dr. Aaron Pik documents the history of the Shavli Jewish community from the Bolshevik period to the German occupation of the ghetto. The Germans imposed a series of medical decrees which prevented inhabitants from receiving even the most fundamental medical services. Had it not been for the resourcefulness and determination of the Jewish doctors who toiled against the decrees, it is unlikely that the ghetto would have survived for three years
