Description

Attempts have been made to sum up the material losses to Jewish culture resulting from the Holocaust. Before the Holocaust there were over 1,500 Jewish communities in Poland, and about 10,000 synagogues, and 2,000-2,500 cemeteries. The Historical Monuments Documentation Center is the only institution collecting data on both extant and non-extant material heritage of Jewish communitites throughout Poland
