Description

Michlic describes the moral and physical support older children bestowed on other, generally younger children. She makes her case through memoirs, diaries, letters, interviews and oral histories of Jewish children and teenage survivors. This type of physical and moral support included sharing food, finding shelters and hiding together, emotional support and teaching younger children how to survive. Because they could run fast, steal food, children often became providers for their families
