Eleven-year old Benita Plezere was deported with her family from Latvia to the Omsk region of Siberia in 1949. The article describes their life there. She drew pictures of the deportation and her life in Siberia and sent them as postcards to her aunt. They are now a treasured possession of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia
