Description

This essay explores how the novel 'Geburtig' (1992)and its 2002 film version call into question Austrian notions of normalcy, especially across generations. At the heart of 'Geburtig' is a critique of the Austrian national myth, perpetuated under Austrian President and former SS-member Kurt Waldheim, by the ravages of WWII and the Holocaust.
