Focuses mainly on the memorial books compiled by 'landsmanshaftn'. The preparation of those books was a grassroots enterprise involving thousands of people. Religious practices are foundational to the books since Yizkor refers to the memorial service for remembering the dead. Although most Yizkor books were issued in the 1960s and 70s, a few were issued before the final defeat of the Nazis
