On the 14th March 1944, Hitler's troops marched into Hungary. There was criticism of the Pope "it was incomprehensible that his Holiness could not summon himself up to protest aginst Hitler" and his treatment of the Jews. This article defends the role of the Pope and his Nuncio, quoting various telegrams and notes which were sent in protest
