The total number of Jewish victims has been under debate ever since the fall of the Nazi regime. The first voices to shed light on the numerical dimensions belonged to the perpetrators. Eichmann came to the following view: about 4 million had been killed in the various extermination camps, while another 2 million had died in other ways.
