Towards the end of the 8th century when the political power of Islam was already consolidated, a less tolerant policy towards Jews and Christians began to be formulated. The codes defining the restrictions pertaining to Jews and Christians were enforced. The limitations applied to costume, testimony in the lawcourts, intermarriage, the practice of religious rites, and many other aspects of life
