The writers and journalists in the She'erit Hapletah (Surviving Remnant) tried to reintegrate themselves into the contemporary international literary discourse. Although diverse in age, experience of the Holocaust, in their political affiliation and in their professional experience, these writers defined themselves as the heirs of East European Yiddish cultural tradition
