Fritz Friedlander was born in Berlin in 1901. His family were decidedly German only marginally Jewish.The problematic nature of the German-Jewish symbiosis confronted him as a student and as a refugee. It continued to fascinate him in his retirement in Melbourne where he wrote articles on the theme for the Jewish press
