Description

The basic argument of the article is that the cultural trauma of the Holocaust had a latency period of 30 years before surfacing in the 1970s. This is similar to individual trauma. A number of texts that exhibit expressions of trauma of the Holocaust in the narrative before that trauma was identified are discussed in the article. The approach to the texts has been through the idea of haunting developed by Derrida.
