Description

The author mixes narration and poetry to describe her childhood in the southwest German town of Kippenheim and her years in Theresienstadt. She was only seven when deported to Terezin and was part of a tiny percentage who survived. She tells of the unimaginable cruelties suffered by other children and families as well as the concentrated efforts to somehow transcend the hellish events through sharing of food or other items, secret schooling, intensified friendships etc.
