Description

Isabella Leitner wrote of her memories of her and her family's deportation to Auschwitz from a small Hungarian town and her experiences there. Now, in "Saving the Fragments" , she continues her horrible and inspiring story of her emancipation from the death camps, re-creating what happened when the Allies advanced to save thousands from certain death. She recalls the conquering Russian Army, encounters with Polish ante-Semites, sympathetic American and British soldiers, and finally her transatlantic journey to New York.
