The book records the memories of the inmates of children in an orphanage (childrens' home) and also what they have done since leaving the home. Sometimes the inmates children have written about their parents. The book spans almost 100 years and is a part of the Jewish History of South Africa. It is also part of the history of South Africa and includes the memories of Jewish 'Ochberg Orpans' brought out to South Africa in 1921 to escape the turmoil of Eastern Europe
