Description

The author examines the story of a Holocaust survivor Irene Zisblatt. Irene stayed silent about her experiences until 1994 and since then has not only had her memoirs published, 'The fifth diamond' but also recounts her story to high school and college students. However, elements of her story do not tally with historical facts and on this basis her story has been challenged. Research shows that many Holocaust survivors stories are not entirely accurate but this fact should not be used to discredit the story. Much of Irene's story can be validated by historical records. He concludes by attempting to rewrite Irene's biography using accredited historical records.
