Description

Elucidates the role and the non-intervention of Pius XII and of the Vatican hierarchy during the Shoah. Focuses on the significance of specific choices and actions. On the issue of how much the Vatican knew about the extermination of the Jews, concludes that there is no doubt that it was aware of what was happening in Europe. The Church avoided a break with Nazi Germany, speaking of the "horrors of the war" in general terms with a view to forfend future recriminations.
