This is a biography of Eliazar Lazar Margolin (1875-1945), who was a lieutenant-colonel in the Australian army during World War I, a Jewish military governor in Israel, and founder and defender of the settlement of Rehovot. Recounts these portions of his life as well as his early life in Russia and Palestine, his emigration to Australia, and his military career. Also considers why Australian history has ignored Marglin's contributions.
