Moments of reprieve

In this montage of brief sketches, Levi calls upon his own Auschwitz experience to create some haunting pictures of inmates. We read of a variety of men - from religious zealots to skillful pretenders - who somehow left an individual and wrenching impression even if they failed to physically survive
